The Makerspace at Briggs District Library is a place for people of all ages to create, learn, and collaborate. Use this form to submit a 3D printing request.

3D Printing Guidelines

Please read our 3D Printing policy on our website before submitting a print job. Note that the Briggs District Library reserves the right to refuse production of any content at any time at the discretion of library staff. Examples of specific content that will not be produced includes, but is not limited to: The printers may only be used for lawful purposes and be for objects appropriate for a public library. Printed objects must not infringe upon any third party’s intellectual property rights. Objects must not be illegal nor can they be construed as having the intent to harm. By submitting objects, the user agrees to assume all responsibility for, and shall hold the library harmless in, all matters related to patented, trademarked, or copyrighted materials. The Briggs District Library is not responsible for any damage, loss, or security of data arising from the use of its computers, equipment or network, nor for the functionality or quality of content produced on the 3D printer.

A Note About 3D Printing

Please note that the 3D printers at Briggs District Library are PLA filament printers. They are not suited to particularly small or finely detailed objects (e.g. the kinds of objects intended for resin printing). Our printers also have a maximum build size of 256 mm x 256 mm x 256 mm, which means files larger than this would need to be scaled down (or broken into separate pieces to print separately).

3D Printing Prices

The costs of 3D Printing is $1.00 plus $0.05 per gram of printed product (including any rafts and supports used in the printing process). Printed requests have a minimum cost of $1.00.

Do you need your print by a certain date? If so, include that here and we will contact you to let you know if we think the print can be completed by this date. Please note that our print requests are completed on a first come, first served basis, and that our printers are also utilized for library programs. Turnaround times will vary by demand and programming.

Color Preference
We cannot ensure that all colors of filament are available at all times, but will try and accommodate color preference when able. If you only want your print to be processed if your color preference is available, make sure to click the box below indicating such.
Please let us know if you have any comments/instructions about your print file(s). By default, we print objects with a 15% infill (which works well for many objects) and use supports when needed. Infill is how much internal support structure the print is given. An infill of 0% would produce a hollow object, and an infill of 100% would produce a solid object. The more infill, the heavier (and more expensive) the final print. Supports are print structures added to files to help the printer better process some portions of a print, and need to be removed from the print afterwards, often with tools. You will need to remove any supports from finished prints yourself.
